Carmelfest 4th of July Parade

If you are participating in the Carmelfest Parade with Carmel Choirs, PLEASE read all of this information thoroughly and join us this Summer to show your choir spirit!

CARMELFEST PARADE DETAILS

We hope everyone is getting excited to be a part of the Carmel Choirs entry in the Carmelfest Parade on Tuesday, July 4. If you signed up to participate, we will have a t-shirt ready for you to wear. If you did not sign up, but you are now able to be there, please come anyway. Bring a friend, bring your sister or brother, everyone is welcome! We will have some extra shirts, or you can just wear red, white, and blue, or even another Carmel Choir shirt.

Float Decoration/Rehearsal/T-shirt Pick-up/Donation Drop-Off:
On Monday, July 3, we will be prepping for the parade. The schedule is below. Please consider donating supplies or decorations, and come lend a hand to decorate the float.

  • 10:30am – 12:00pm – Float Decoration in the front Parking Lot next to the circle drive on Main Street. Please bring patriotic decorations if you have any we can use, as well as your creative minds to decorate out float.
  • 12:00pm – 1:00pm – Rehearsal of the parade songs in E157 & T-shirt pick-up. We would love for everyone who is participating In the parade to try to come to E157 for this hour to run through the songs, pick up t-shirts, and get last minute details for the parade. This is also a perfect time to drop off any supplies that you have volunteered to donate such as candy, water bottles, coolers, sunscreen, etc. If you have volunteered to bring bags of ice for the coolers, those must be brought to the staging area on Tuesday morning by 9:30am.

Carmel Choir Parade Entry: #22
After Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers and before Flix Brewhouse.

Staging area:
Parking lot on the North side of Carmel Drive & AAA Way, in front of the #1 China Buffet. This is the same parking lot in front of 502 Event Center, Jack’s Donuts, Subway, and FedEx Kinkos, across the street from the National Bank of Indianapolis. Look for a navy blue Ford F150 pulling a flatbed trailer decorated with Carmel Choir signs.

What time do be there:
Our truck will be there by 9:00am. Everyone must be at the parade staging area ready (with waivers) to go no later than 9:30am

Where to park:
There are really not very good places to park near this area, so we recommend having someone drop you off as close as you can get and then walking over. Many people park in the parking lot near Petco & Mellow Mushroom on the North side of 116th Street, and then they walk up AAA Way to where we are staged.

What to wear:
COMFORTABLE walking shoes, shorts, a tank top or t-shirt that you can easily change out of to put on our red Carmel Choir T-shirts, sunglasses, sunscreen, any other patriotic paraphernalia such as headbands, bandanas, necklaces, etc.

What to bring:

  • Your signed and completed parade waiver form. You must turn this in when you arrive. (Form is attached to this message)
  • Anything that you signed up for on the sign-up genius, including coolers, water, ice, bubbles, sunscreen, candy, etc. (these items can also be dropped off on Monday, July 3, see note above)
  • A small fanny pack or string backpack to carry your sunscreen, water, etc.
  • A tote bag that you can fill with candy to pass out during the parade
  • A refillable water bottle, already filled with ice water
  • EXTRA candy! We run out every year. If you can bring extra candy to distribute (not chocolate) that would be great.
  • If you want to bring a scooter or rollerblades, etc. you may, but no motorized vehicles are allowed, including electric scooters or bikes.
  • Your fun, enthusiastic attitude!

Other details:

  • The parade begins at 10:30am. We will walk West on Carmel Drive, turn North on Rangeline, and then East on Main Street. The parade will end near Indy Coffee Roasters on Main Street just west of Carmel High School. Students will need to arrange for someone to pick them up at the end of the parade, but there will also be some shuttle buses from the City of Carmel running people back to the start of the parade.
  • Candy cannot be “thrown”, it must be put directly into the bags of kids and parade-goers on the sidelines. You must go to them, they are not allowed to walk onto the street.
  • During the parade, we will come to parts of the road where there is a median in the middle. Some parade entries are asked to go to the left of the median and others are asked to go to the right. Out truck will alternate and sometimes go left and sometimes go right. For everyone walking behind the truck/float, you will split and we will spread out between the two sides of the street since we have a larger number of participants.

Parade Participation Form:

Join us this summer to sing and dance down Rangeline Rd in the 2023 Carmelfest 4th of July Parade. We have a great time every year and all current, incoming, and former Carmel Choir students are welcome.
Sign up to participate at the link below and you’ll get a free t-shirt to wear in the parade. You also must complete the Carmelfest Parade Waiver and bring it with you to the parade on July 4th. More info to come, but for now, sign up so that we can get the t-shirt order going.

Parade Donations Needed!

Donations of candy, water, ice & coolers are needed for the annual Carmelfest Fourth of July Parade! Please consider donating. All donations can be brought to the start of the parade route on July 4. More details will be given closer to the time. Thank you for your generosity.
